Knockout set to eclipse competition with addition of Hollywood super agent
GENERAL 28 de julio de 2015 LU17
Knockout, the highly regarded television reality series starring Roy Jones Jr, Shane Mosley, Floyd Mayweather Sr, and John Scully, has already surpassed much of the competition in combat sports. Season 2 has played extremely well and has become a staple in the boxing community. With its star power, it has also been able to grab the attention of Hollywood super agent Andrew Ruf, who has put in motion an international deal that will put the series in several countries. There will also be formation of format deals in international countries.
So how can Knockout compete with the spending power of HBO, Showtime and PBC? The simple answer is they can't, so how will they compete and surpass them? The answer is the fan base. Knockout has rated extremely well with limited promotions and limited homes. The wheels are in motion for full market penetration on cable and with international and format deals coming, Knockout will be the only international weekly aired combat sport along with the UFC and WWE shows. Next year it will likely be the biggest reality show based on this season's upcoming finale and plans for season 3.
This show is produced and marketed for pennies on the dollar compared to boxing's elite yet it competes weekly and surpasses the competition in fan appeal. More homes and a worldwide franchise transcends to more ratings, and in turn into more ad revenue and a bigger budget.
The show from a format perspective is already the best thing in boxing. If things go as planned, the one million plus promoters and billion dollar networks have a problem. It took only 12 episodes and 2 live events to have boxing's best become part of team Knockout. People, this is called proof of concept that adds up to a problem for the competition.
Watch it on NUVOtv or Hulu on Wednesday 10 p.m. This is a must see.
